Hello! My name is Jean and I am the sole creator behind Nature Bone Studio.
I am an amateur naturalist and artist from Southern New Jersey where I currently reside with my three cats and two pet tree frogs. I draw my artistic inspiration from the magic of nature in both its growth and decay. I am fascinated by the science, mystery and magic of the natural world as well as the many landscapes of human emotion.
Since childhood I have felt a strong connection to nature and a constant drive to create. Through my life’s journey, including my struggles with CPTSD, depression, anxiety and undiagnosed neurodivergence, this sense of connection and drive has manifested a therapeutic, grounding presence which has fostered a sense of peace, purpose and healing for me. I have always desired to express and share these intuitive feelings with others through art.
I studied multiple artistic mediums- dabbling in painting, photography, taxidermy and digital arts among other mediums, until I discovered my lasting fascination with the alchemy of glass. I graduated from Salem Community College with an Associates Degree in Glass Art in 2014. I now work from my home studio crafting unique glassworks using borosilicate glass flameworking, cold-working and copper electroforming techniques. I employ my background in graphic design and photography to create all my own media and print materials for Nature Bone Studio.
When I am not busy managing and creating for my brand, you can often find me tending to my extensive family of houseplants, reading occult philosophy or studying the many curiosities of nature from flowers and trees to bones and fungi. I enjoy long walks through forests, swamps and places abandoned by humankind in search of bones, mushrooms, herbs and mental quiet. I find joy in making and experiencing art and music and also in being an empathetic presence in the lives of my close friends and family to whom I owe much gratitude for their constant love and support.
